The Pregnant Woman’s Guide to Waxing

If you’re pregnant and thinking about getting waxed, you might be wondering if it’s even safe or if it’s going to feel like a lot right now.

Let me ease your mind a little.

Pregnancy changes your body fast, and it’s completely normal if things that used to feel easy, like shaving, just don’t anymore. Reaching certain areas, staying comfortable, keeping up with it… it can all feel like a lot.

That’s where I come in. My goal is to make waxing during pregnancy feel comfortable, safe, and honestly just one less thing for you to think about.

I’ve worked with clients at every stage of pregnancy, so everything from positioning to timing to technique is adjusted to you and how you’re feeling that day.

First, yes, waxing is safe during pregnancy.

Wax only interacts with the surface of your skin, so it’s not absorbed into your body and doesn’t affect your baby.

That being said, your skin can be more sensitive because of hormonal changes, so I adjust everything accordingly to keep things as comfortable as possible.

Your skin and hair might feel a little different right now, and that’s normal.

Pregnancy hormones can cause hair to grow faster or even in new areas. Your skin might feel more sensitive or reactive, and some areas may get red a little easier.

None of this is a bad thing. It just means we move a little differently and pay attention to what your body needs.

What it looks like depending on where you are in pregnancy…

In the first trimester, your body is still adjusting, but appointments are usually very manageable. I’ll guide you through everything so it feels smooth and not overwhelming.

In the second trimester, you might notice a little more sensitivity. This is where I start incorporating more support like pillows, comfortable positioning, and breaks if you need them.

By the third trimester, it’s really about comfort. We adjust positions, take our time, and check in often so nothing feels rushed or uncomfortable.

Hormonal shifts can make hair grow quicker and skin more reactive, which is why experience, positioning, and communication matter so much here.

A few things that make a big difference in your experience…

-Warm, not hot wax

-Clean, high-standard hygiene

-Open communication so I know how you’re feeling

-Taking breaks when you need them

-Extra support like pillows, especially later on

You never have to just push through anything. We adjust as we go.

Why a lot of pregnant clients choose waxing

-It keeps you smooth for weeks instead of days

-You don’t have to bend, twist, or struggle to shave

-It just makes things feel more manageable when your body is already doing a lot

Some of the questions I get all the time…

Can I still get a butt strip while pregnant?

Yes. We just adjust your positioning so it’s done comfortably and safely.

Does it hurt more during pregnancy?

It can feel a little more sensitive, but with communication, pacing, and support, it’s very manageable.

Are there areas you won’t wax?

Most areas are totally fine. If something feels off or your skin is irritated, we just adjust or skip it.

How should I prep?

About ¼ inch of growth, light exfoliation the day before, loose comfy clothing, and just let me know how you’re feeling when you come in.

Aftercare?

Keep things simple. Avoid heat, tight clothing, and heavy activity right after. Keep the area clean, moisturized, and start light exfoliation a few days later.

If you’ve been thinking about booking but weren’t sure if now is the right time, it’s okay to not have everything figured out.

Pregnancy already comes with enough changes. This just gets to be one thing that feels taken care of.

If you’re local and considering waxing during pregnancy, I’ve got you from start to finish.
